¶ Common Issues and Solutions
If you connected manually (not via certificate) and recently changed your linkblue password:
Solution:
- Forget the eduroam network on your device
- Reconnect using your new password
The UK-Guest network can interfere with eduroam connections.
Solution:
- Forget/remove UK-Guest network from your device
- Restart your device
- Connect to eduroam
Due to certificate updates, devices previously connected via onboarding may experience errors.
Solution for iOS:
- Go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management (or Profiles)
- Find and remove old eduroam profile
- Go to Settings → WiFi
- Tap the (i) next to eduroam
- Tap "Forget This Network"
- Reconnect using current instructions
Solution for macOS:
- System Preferences → Network → WiFi → Advanced
- Select eduroam and click the minus (-) button
- Click OK and Apply
- System Preferences → Profiles (if present)
- Remove any eduroam profiles
- Reconnect using current instructions
Solution for Windows:
- Settings → Network & Internet → WiFi
- Click "Manage known networks"
- Select eduroam and click "Forget"
- Reconnect using current instructions
Solution for Android:
- Settings → WiFi → Saved networks
- Long-press eduroam
- Select "Forget network"
- Clear any saved certificates in Security settings
- Reconnect using current instructions
This typically happens when your device struggles to switch between WiFi access points.
Solutions:
- Toggle WiFi off and on to force connection to nearest access point
- Check for device software updates
- Consider using certificate-based connection for better stability
- Report persistent coverage issues in specific locations to ITS
Solution:
- This typically means an old certificate is interfering
- Remove all eduroam profiles and certificates from your device
- Clear your device's network settings if necessary
- Reconnect from scratch
For devices that cannot connect to eduroam:
- Smart TVs
- Gaming consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch)
- Smart home devices (Alexa, Google Home)
- Older devices without WPA2-Enterprise support

As a UK community member, you can use eduroam at any participating institution worldwide:
- Look for the eduroam network
- Use your full UK credentials (linkblueID@uky.edu)
- Connect the same way you do at UK
Similarly, visitors from other eduroam institutions can connect at UK using their home institution credentials.
